Standard変更：PS／HI／ESを学ぶ⑮重度でなくても「不正咬合」はDQ

DQの説明に入る前に、再確認しておきたいのはShow Rulesです。

Show Rule 216.8 ～ 216.12のところに全Breed共通の「Disqualifications」のルールがあります。（下記参照）

ちなみに、これに続く形で、Show Rule 216.13に全Breed共通の「Penalties」（DQにはならないもの）、216.14に同Allowances（Penaltiesの対象にならない）が定めてあります。

【正常に呼吸できなければ「DQ」に】

ですので、新たに加わった「As per Show Rule 216.12.10 inability to breathe normally with a closed mouth MUST be disqualified」は念押しというか強調というか、PS／HI／ESにとって極めて重要な点になることを意味します。

そのことは「MUST」が大文字で表記されていることからも明らかでしょう。

【重度でなくても「不正咬合」はDQに】

不正咬合（Malocclusion）も、これまでは「Severe malocclusion」だけが「DQ」の対象でしたが、変更後は「Severe（重度）」でなくても「DQ」の対象になります。

Disqualifications:
216.8 Disqualification (DQ) shall be used for those entries which are removed from competition for reasons set forth in these Show Rules or an individual breed standard.
216.8.1 When an entry is disqualified, the judge shall mark "DQ" in the space provided for awards in their judge's books. The judge shall state the reason for "DQ" on the Executive Office copy.
216.9 A judge shall disqualify and dismiss from the ring any cat that bites.
216.9.1 A cat that is disqualified from competition for biting shall be noted by the Executive Office. If three disqualifications for biting by the same cat occur, the cat will no longer be scored or allowed to confirm titles or to enter/participate in TICA shows, and the owner of the cat shall be notified by the Executive Office.
216.10 A judge shall disqualify any cat showing evidence of intent to deceive the judge by artificial means. Should a judge suspect fraud in any classes previously judged, they may reopen and rejudge such classes.
216.10.1 Surgically altering a cat for cosmetic purposes is considered intent to deceive, and such cat shall be disqualified. Examples include, but are not limited to, tail docking, prosthetic testicles and ear cropping.
216.11 Male cats in the adult championship class not having two descended testicles shall be disqualified.
216.12 Many abnormalities which are detected in judging are not breed specific, but rather occur in all cats. Responsible breeding aims to conserve our breeds while maintaining their health which means focusing on reducing or eliminating these abnormalities. Household Pets are excepted from this rule. Except as otherwise stated in this rule, judges shall penalize or disqualify, depending upon severity, championship cats, non-championship kittens, Preliminary New Breeds (PNB), and Advanced New Breeds (ANB), [see TICA Standing Rules 701.4.3], and shall penalize championship alters for the following:
216.12.1 All or part of the tail missing, except when a Board approved breed standard requires all or part of the tail to be missing.
216.12.2 Having more or less than five toes on each front foot and four on each back foot unless proved to be the result of an injury or as authorized by a Board approved standard.
2016.12.2.1 Polydactyls, in any breed authorized by a Board approved standard, shall be limited to no more than 7 toes on any foot.
216.12.3 Undershot or overshot jaws, or any malocclusion of the jaws.
216.12.4 Visible or invisible tail faults are a disqualification, at the discretion of the judge, or as required by a Board approved standard.
216.12.5 Crossed eyes are a disqualification, at the discretion of the judge, or as required by a Board approved standard.
216.12.6 Total blindness is a disqualification.
216.12.7 Inability to bear or support weight or to walk normally.
216.12.8 Abnormal positioning of the legs and feet while standing. Examples include, but are not limited to, bowed or cow-hocked legs, splaying of the feet, or obvious toeing in or out of the feet.
216.12.9 Small size not in keeping with the breed shall be considered a fault.
216.12.9.1 Markedly smaller size is a disqualification.
216.12.10 Inability to breathe normally with a closed mouth.
216.12.11 Abnormalities of the Sternum.
216.12.11.1 Depression of the sternum or unusually small diameter of the rib cage itself is a disqualification.
216.12.11.2 A prominent anterior sternum, sometimes referred to as a prominent keel or pigeon breast.
216.12.11.3 Unusually prominent, protruding or depressed lower sternum (xiphoid).

Penalties:
216.13 Judges shall penalize, but not disqualify, entries for the following:
216.13.1 Unrepaired umbilical hernia.
216.13.2 Damaged ears or eyes as a result of an injury.
216.13.3 Spots, patches or sprinkling of incorrect color (i.e. color faults) other than lockets and belly spots.

Allowances:
216.14 Cats that have been declawed shall not be penalized.

3月10日からの続きになります。

まず、パッと見て目立つのは、「WW」のところにある「Lockets or buttons」の記載場所が変わったことです。

【「Lockets or buttons」は変更後もWWの対象】

「WW」のところだけ見て「なくなったのね…」と勘違いしないでください。

変更後のStandardでは「GENERAL DESCRIPTION」と「PENALIZE」の間に記載場所が移っただけで、「WW」の対象であることに変わりはありません。

私はあまり気にしていませんでしたが、最近の傾向として「Lockets」の扱いについては抜き出し、独立した記載することになっているとのことです。

【〝呼吸音〟が問われるのはPS／HI／ESだけ】

「WW」には新たに「Audible or heavy breathing. Pinched or very narrow nostrils. Very small or incorrectly formed nose leather（呼吸音が聞こえる、あるいは呼吸が荒い。鼻孔が縮こまっている、または非常に狭い。ノーズレザー（部分）が非常に小さい、あるいは正しく形成されていない」が加わりました。

全Breedを通じて、「Audible or heavy breathing」が記載され、それが「WW」の対象になるのはPS／HI／ESが初めてです。

「Pinched」という単語は「Pinched muzzle」として使われることはありますが、「Pinched nostrils」という言い回しで使われるのはPS／HI／ESが初めてとなります。

PENALIZEの続きです。

「Ear Shape」と「Eye Shape」のところは「Ears that are large, pointed, slanting out from the head or set too close together. Small or close set eyes」で変わりません。

【Eye ColorのPENALIZEは詳しく厳しく】

Eye Colorでは、「（PS/ES）Pale, weak eye color」のところは従来通りですが、その前後に幾つかPENALIZE対象が加わりました。

1つは「A green rim next to pupil in both kittens and adults（子猫・成猫双方において、瞳孔の周囲にグリーンの縁がある」

2つ目は「（HI and pointed ES）Pale or grey eye color（青白いまたはグレーのアイカラー）」

3つ目は2つ目の続きで「Flecks of other colors in iris（虹彩に他の色のシミや斑点がある）」

【BodyのPENALIZEの内容は変わらず】

Body: A narrow chest, or long back. Poor muscle tone. Slab flanks.

敢えて言うなら、「Body：」と加えられたことぐらいです。

【「Very heavily shaded coat」はPENALIZE】

CoatのPENALIZEの冒頭にある「Poor coat condition」は変わりませんが、その後に新たにPENALIZE対象が加わりました。

（HI and pointed ES）Penalise a very heavily shaded coat on the body, seasonal shading can be detected by checking the colour at the roots, but a coat that is fully coloured to the roots must be penalised. Remember it will be more evident in the darker pointed colors.
（HI／Pointed ES）Bodyにおいてかなりの多くのshaded coatはPENALIZEの対象。季節要因によるshadingは毛の根本のカラーでチェックできるが、根元まで完全に色がついている場合はPENALIZEの対象となる。より暗いPointedのカラーでより顕著に表れることを忘れないこと。

ちなみに「heavily」は幾つかの猫種のStandardに出てきますが、coatとの関連で使われるのはPS／HI／ESだけで、しかも「very」まで付くケースは他にありません。

「very heavily」をinvestと組み合わせて使うと「巨額の投資」を意味しますから、「very heavily shaded coat on the body」もかなり極端な「shaded coat」となりそうです。

Standard変更：PS／HI／ESを学ぶ⑫PENALIZE㊤「skull」「nose」に要注意

PS／HI／ESの「PENALIZE」はこれまでStandardのフォーマットで16行ありましたが、変更後は1.75倍に記載量が増えました。

【Skull「lumps,bumps,depressions」は減点】

冒頭の「Long or narrow head」は変わりませんが、その後、追加として「lumps, bumps and depressions in the skull should be penalized according to severity」が入り、その後に「long Roman nose」と続きます。

これは、HEAD Shapeに追加された記載（smoothあるいはperfectly smooth）に対応し、smoothでない具体例を挙げています。

全BreedsのStandardを通じて「severity（厳格に／厳しく）」が使われるのはPS／HI／ESだけで、今回の変更で2カ所でつかわれることになります。

【犬歯の欠損だけでなくズレもPENALIZE】

「long Roman nose; thin muzzle; mild overshot or undershot jaw; bite deformity」までは変わらず、その後に「such as misaligned canines and missing canine teeth in whole adult cats」が追加されました。

先ほどと同じように、ここでもダメな具体例を挙げており、これまでは「犬歯の欠損」だけが対象でしたが、「犬歯のズレ」も明記されました。

「canine teeth」がStandardで使われるのは珍しく、PS／HI／ESではこのような言い回しで出てきますが、この他ではDSKで「Canine teeth are long, may be protruding from behind the upper lip」と出てくるぐらいです。

【〝ストップ〟のExtreme depressionは PENALIZE】

これまでPENALIZEに「nose」に関する直接的な記載はありませんでしたが、今回、「Extreme depression of the nose stop」と「Small nostrils」がPENALIZE対象に加えられました。

何を以て「Extreme」と判断するか、何を以て「small」と判断するかはJudgeの主観によりますが、それでもPENALIZEの項に明記された点は重要です。

【AsymmetryのPENALIZEの説明は簡潔に】

AsymmetryのPENALIZEを巡る記載はこれまで、「while nature never creates a perfectly symmetric structure」が挿入されているなど、まどろこしいものでしたが、変更後は「Asymmetry (i.e.,crooked or off-center nose, mouth, etc.). should be penalized according to severity」と簡潔になりました。

なお、ここでも「severity」が使われている点に留意したいところです。

ALLOWANCESはEye Colorとともに、Coatでも詳しい記載が加えられました。

【Coatの季節要因の影響による変化は考慮対象】

新たに加わったのは以下で、「coat length」と「fullness」（ボリューム感）は考慮対象です。

Coat: Allowances for seasonal variation in the coat length and fullness; a shorter but well presented PS/HI coat in summer is totally acceptable.

また、夏場は多少短くてもwell presented（見栄えが良い）なら、総合的に見て受け入れられるとしています。

【成熟したHI／Pointed ESはslightly shadedを考慮】

成猫のHI／Pointed EShは「Allowance for slightly shaded areas on coats of mature cats」を加わわりました。

「shaded」のエリアがわずかに見られたとしても考慮対象として許容されることになります。

【Standard COAT Colorの記載と合わせて理解を】

このALLOWACESの部分はStandardのCOAT Colorのところにある次の記載と合わせて理解するといいでしょう。

「Clear body color prefered with subtle shading allowed（はっきりしたボディカラーが望ましいが、ですが、微妙なsadingは許容される）」

「There must be a definite contrast between the body and point color. The points, comprising of the ears, legs, feet, tail, and mask, must show the basic color of the cat（ボディとポイントのカラーにおいては明確なコントラストがなければならない。ポイントは耳、手脚、尾、マスクから成り、猫の基本的なカラーを示していなければならない」

きのう紹介した点も含め、ALLOWANCESも大きな変更になりました。

【オスとメスの違いの考慮は「same age」で比較】

オスとメスの大きさの違いは、他の猫種でも考慮対象になるケースがあるわけですが、今回の変更では「same age」という〝条件〟が付きました。

こうした〝条件〟が付いたのは全Breedsを通じて初めてとなります。

【Eye colorは子猫の場合の記載を詳しく】

成猫は「Copper eyes are preferred」ですが、子猫の場合は「Eye color in kittens appears muddy in orange eyed cats」が考慮されます。

「muddy」は「濁った／曇った」というより、「くすんだ」 という感じでしょうか。

全Breedsを通じて「muddy」あるいは「muddy in orange eyed cats」という単語、言い回しは初めてです。

【ブルーアイのHI／Pointed ES、グリーンアイのシルバー】

ブルーアイのHI／Pointed ES、グリーンアイのシルバーのPS／ESについてはEye colorが目の中心から発達していき、成猫になるまでに完全に発達する必要があるという記載が加わりました。

逆に言えば、成猫になるまでに完全に発達していなくてもいいことになり、これはALLOWANCESに該当することになります。

COAT/COLOR/PATTERNはいろいろな変更が施されました。

【Length/Textureが5点アップして15点に】

まず配点はCOAT/COLOR/PATTERN全体として5点アップして25点になりましたが、これはLength/Textureが5点アップしたことによるものとなります。

ここで最も留意したいのはESのCoat lengthで、新たに「The coat of the homozygous ES is shorter and therefore will not stand away from the body as much, they look more sculpted in appearance and the tail is less fully furnished」が加わりました。

Breed Committeeは、「これまで同じ対立遺伝子を持つホモ接合型（HZ＝homozygous）ESのコートに対する理解が不足しており、補うことにした」と説明しています。

【HZ ESのコートに対するAllowances的な記載】

意訳も加えて訳すと、「ホモ接合型のESの毛皮はより短く、そのため体からそれほど離れず、見た目はより（ボディの）彫りが深く見え、尾はそれほどモフモフしているわけではない」といった感じになるでしょうか。

いずれにしても、これまでヘテロ接合型とホモ接合型でStandardの記載を変えるケースはなく、今回が全Breedsを通じて初めてとなります。

どちらかと言うと、HZ ESのコートに対するAllowances的な記載と言えるかもしれません。

【季節要因の記載はAllowancesへ移動】

これまでPS／HI／ESともCoatのところに、「Seasonal variations in coat shall be recognised」「Seasonal variation in coat and density should be recognized」と入っていましたが、これらはそのままAllowancesへ移りました。

また、HIのところにこれまで「Allowance should be made for darker shaded areas on coats of mature cats」とありましたが、今回の変更でこの部分はさらに詳しく記載される形で、PENALIZEに移っています。

ちなみに今回の変更で、「HI」ではなく、「HI and Pointed ES」となっています。

きょうはBODYを取り上げます。

【BoningとMusculatureは実質15点→10点に低下】

BODY全体の配点は35点で変わりませんが、項目別の配点は一見するとやや分かりにくくなっています。

「Musculature」の5点が削除されましたが、「Musculature」は「Boning」の項目に移り、「Boning/ Musculature」となりました。

これまで「Boning」10点、「Musculature」5点でしたから、「Boning」＋「 Musculature」＝10点ということは実質的に引き下げとなります。

【｢Feet and Legs｣は2倍の10点に引き上げ】

これに対して「Feet and Legs」はこれまでの5点から10点にアップしました。

PSとHIの長毛種のFeetについては.「(PS/HI) feet should be tufted」が加わりました。

Breed Committeeは「全ての長毛にはtuftがあり、PS／HIにおいてもその特徴を（Standard）において説明する必要がある」としています。

ですから、アップした5点分は「Feet」の部分であることが見て取れます。

Standard変更：PS／HI／ESを学ぶ⑦NoseとNose breakの変更に要注意

PS／HI／ESのStandard変更で、「Nose」と「Profile」は重要なポイントになります。

配点は「Profile」が5点で変わらず、「Nose」は5点から2点アップの7点と微妙な変更ですが、記述はしっかり押さえておく必要があるでしょう。

【｢Nose｣に｢Fully formed nose leather｣を追加】

「Nose」の項目で追加されたのは「Fully formed nose leather」で、一見すると大したことを加えたように思えないかもしれません。

しかし、これを加えた理由についてBreed Committeeは以下の説明をしており、この狙いを念頭に置く必要があります。

「Breed criticised for small noses and reduced nostril size and shape we want to make it clear to judges and breeders the leather must be fully formed and with open nostrils（小さい鼻と鼻孔形状が小さくされているこの猫種は、ノーズレザーが完全に形成され、鼻孔が開いていることをJudgeとブリーダーに明確にさせたいと思います）」－－

【｢Placement of nose break｣を詳しく記載へ】

「Profile」はこれまで「Short, snub-nose, definite break directly between eyes. Forehead, nose and chin in straight line」と比較的簡素でしたが、変更後は次にようになります。

Profile: Short, snub-nose, definite break directly between eyes. Break to be above the bottom edge of the eyes and no higher than the center of the eyes. Forehead, nose and chin appear to be in line or very slightly rounded in keeping with the roundness of the head as a whole.

変更のポイントについてBreed Committeeは「More description of the placement of nose break（ノーズブレイクの位置の詳細）」と指摘している点が重要です。

【一部においてノーズブレイクの位置が「too high」】

Breed Committeeによれば、「Some breaks are too high」であるとし、「so guidance given here as to where the ideal placement should be」としたとのことです。

確かに新たに加えられた、①「Break to be above the bottom edge of the eyes and no higher than the center of the eyes」、②「Forehead, nose and chin appear to be in line or very slightly rounded in keeping with the roundness of the head as a whole」はそれらに関するものです。

また、従来の「Forehead, nose and chin in straight line」のところは「in straight line」が削除され、②のように「appear to be in line or very slightly rounded in keeping with the roundness of the head as a whole」となり、「straight line」ではなくなる点も重要です。

Earsは記載・配点とも変わりませんが、Eyesは配点が5点から7点に増え、本文も「Eye Color」の記載が具体的かつ詳細になりました。

【PS／ESは「Copper eyes are preferred」】

PS／ESにおいてコートカラーに沿って「Deep brilliant eye color」が求められている点で変更はありませんが、「Copper eyes are preferred in all colors except for silver and golden where green eyes are preferred」が加えられました。

あくまで参考ですが、AS／AWはPENALIZEのところ「Eye color not completely green in silvers, or not gold in browns」と定めており、PS／ESは「silver and golden where green eyes are preferred」と微妙に異なります。

なお、「Blue or odd eyes only in whites or with white colors/patterns」も追加されています。

【HIとPointed ESは｢Medium blue eye color is acceptable｣】

HIとPointed ESのEye colorは「Deepest blue preferred」とそれに続く「but light to」が削除され、「Medium blue is acceptable」だけとなりました。

Breed Committeeによると、「pale blue（＝light blue）」は認められず、またこうした変更の背景には虹彩と皮膚の色素異常や感音性難聴を引き起こすとされるDBE（Dominant Blue Eyes）の開発促進に歯止めをかける狙いがあるとのことです。

「Medium blue」は抽象的で、その判断はJudgeによって大きくことなるかと思いますが、Eye colorにおいて「Medium blue」が出てくるのは全Breedを通じてHIとPointed ESだけとなります。

【Chinの配点構造は変わるも記載内容は変わらず】

Chinはこれまで単独項目としてあり、配点は3点でしたが、変更後は「Chin／Jaw and Bite」と3項目で構成され、配点は10点になりました。

ただ、Chin自体の記載内容は変わらず、「Strong, full, well-developed, fitting into the face」が求められています。
